Hello my dear friend,

First of all, welcome February! But let’s take a moment to look back at what January has been, shall we? Let’s begin.

I’ve been knitting a lot; I need to keep my mind busy and free from thoughts during this time, and knitting helps me relax.

I also wanted a new scarf and a shawl to wear with the Sondeflor dress I bought last month, and since I’ve become fascinated by the wonderful handmade pieces Claire wears in Outlander, I wanted to try recreating something similar. I found that Louise Bollanos’s pattern, the Journeycake Shawl, was perfect for the occasion, especially since it’s inspired by Outlander itself.

I think you may have recognized the scarf as well - it’s one of the most popular patterns among knitters online right now. It’s the Sophie Scarf by PetiteKnit

I also had the pleasure of searching for a few new vintage pieces for my wardrobe and my desk and the hunt was quite successful.

I found an ‘80s dress with a bolero and a delightful cardigan in pure Shetland wool, worked in colorwork with a lovely collar, plus beautiful sleeve and these uniquely shaped bow motifs. And then a wooden roll-top drawer, I’m not sure what era it’s from, but it’s in perfect condition and truly perfect for keeping all the papers on my desk tidy. I love vintage finds!

Speaking of illustration, I’ve been spending some time with my sketchbook, especially on weekend mornings, and sometimes early in the morning on workdays.

In short, I simply can’t go without creating - it’s what makes me feel alive and fulfilled in my life.

Lastly, I watched a beautiful film about Van Gogh recommended by Ema Malyauka, starring Willem Dafoe. It was truly a lovely movie, and it reminded me of that wonderful book published in Italy with biographical notes and the artist’s paintings with some enlarged posters inside.

Speaking on TV, lately I’ve watched the first four episodes of season 4 of Bridgerton, and I can’t wait to see the next ones, which will be released later in February.

I’m also watching The Tudors - the series about Henry VIII - and, as always, English historical dramas are my favorites.

Eccomi qui, piena di speranze e progetti, come ogni anno, anche se questo 2022 me lo sento già pieno di belle speranze, d’amore e creatività. E’ l’anno della Tigre, é un anno propizio.
Non ho fatto bilanci in anteprima se non al 30 sera e stamattina la mia parola dell’anno si é palesata, dopo aver espresso e visualizzato i miei desideri la sera del 31, dopo un capodanno sereno passato in famiglia, dove di buoni propositi ce li siamo scambiati con il sorriso e gli abbracci. La parola che mi guiderà in questo 2022 è banale per molti, per me é preziosa e significa rinascita, la mia parola è AMORE.

Avevo scritto un post in brutta copia prima di Natale, ma non l’ho più pubblicato ed ormai non ha più senso, salvo però un paragrafo che avevo scritto e lo incollo qui:

Nel mentre facciamo felici gli altri, ricordiamoci anche di noi. Di fare quelle piccole semplici cose che aiutano a sopportare sopraffazioni e ingiustizie, non preoccuparti di cose che non puoi controllare; io ho deciso di spendere il tempo tenendo impegnate le mani, in un mantra laborioso che impegna mani, cervello e cuore, che stempera lo stress e cura la mia anima.

In questo ultimo mese ho sferruzzato molto, ho terminato uno scialle, il mio Trilly Fairy Shawl, modello che ho disegnato alcuni anni fa, e devo dire che mi ha dato una gran soddisfazione. Ho anche aggiornato il pattern ed ora ha due versioni, small e large.

Wear it and feel the magic!

Nel mentre ho iniziato e quasi terminato un cardigan sempre a maglia, un lavoro davvero veloce che mi sta rendendo particolarmente felice per la riuscita. Ne ho già parlato un pò sul canale youtube, rispolverato nonostante la timidezza, ma è anche ora di dire basta alla modestia delle donne, come sostiene la mia amica paper engineer Annalisa Metus.

Ma veniamo ai nuovi progetti per l’anno nuovo, ai nuovi respiri, alle nuove ambizioni.
Sulla vita privata ho sogni e desideri che spero prendano presto risvolti felici, e sul fronte creatività ho deciso finalmente di partire con un piano anziché come gli altri anni con l’Armata Brancaleone, mezzo dispersa e che gira a vuoto.
Ho pensato di lavorare ad un progetto iniziato da Rochelle qualche anno fa, il MakeNine Challenge. In pratica ci si focalizza su nove progetti da terminare in un anno solare. Io ho pensato che voglio lavorare a cose di cui ho bisogno e cose che mancano nel mio guardaroba, ho pensato di riuscire a lavorare in maniera sostenibile e cerare anche di evitare acquisti nell’anno nuovo. Il 2021 è stato particolarmente ricco di spese grosse, mi sono concessa anche qualche lusso, e senza dover rinunciare a capi belli vorrei rinunciare alle “firme”che in qualche modo gonfiano i prezzi, senza rinunciare alla qualità.
La mia challenge quest’anno prevede questi capi e modelli:
